If you are looking to tour Brandywine/Chaddsford/Chester County and surrounds, this is your park. Campground is right on the Brandywine River. We Had site 48, up the hill. This site is great for Wi-Fi Reception. I don't know if there is a perfectly level site here. Used three leveler blocks on 3 of the four wheels to get level. Sites are pretty close together. Hey, if you want to stay in the rolling hill beauty of Horse Country, you have to make some concessions. If you like canoeing and don't own one, recommend using one of their rentals - inexpensive and family loved paddling past the old rail line, and the horse farms, and some "McMansions". Water clear enough to see catfish and trout at the bottom. The new activities building is beautiful, and offers a tempting cafe with full dinners to boot. The roads are gravel, as are the sites. Both could use a new coating. Showers were clean, and very friendly staff, attentive to the plantings and grounds. I'd rate the place higher, but they really need to re-gravel the roads and sites. We'll be back.

This Park has made many capital improvements since our last time here 2 years ago. Most Roads now blacktop, and our site (187) was newly refurbished with concrete pad and gravel surround. EWSC all were easily accessible. Nice wooded area around the site gave some seclusion. Landscaping of the grounds, with beds of flowers is beautiful, and a nice touch. On our walks around, yes there are lots of seasonals, but all nicely kept that we saw. Love the pool setup, well done mini golf, and the "Gnome Cafe" makes some good sandwiches. This would be a ten, but the quarry noise (a daytime "grinding" noise in the distance) from up the road takes just a bit away. We got to hear a dynamite blast around 1:30pm Tuesday as we left. That was a surprise! Still, we'll be back.

We stayed one night, traveling from Skyline Drive in VA to Crisfeild MD. Great park, Wooded, level sites. Nice playground area in a picnic grove setting at the entrance to the loops. We stayed at site 23 (electric loop. Shower house is central to the sites on the loop Dumpster is at site 6. There were also cabins, might be good if traveling with "non-rving" friends. Host on the electric loop was very friendly and informative. Trails lead to the lake and another, larger play area made from tires. Also an equestrian area adjacent to the park. Would stay here again.

This will be an awesome Resort. The hardscaping and landscaping around each site is well done. The pool is suppose to be done in July. It looks like it will be a nice one. The gameroom is big - still not finished. The showers and restrooms (also laundry area) were clean, configuration of the shower was odd to me - not too private between the two showers in the men's room at least. The outside of the building had a log house feel, but you could still see between the logs, so not completed yet. Getting a discount on the cave tour was a nice plus. They also give a Good Sam Discount - not listed on the website. Staff was very friendly, first time I've been driven around to choose my site - before pulling up with the RV - then escorted to my site. Odd that they don't have cable with all the updates they are doing. Lots of construction activity going on, starting around 8am until about 5pm while we were there. This place has plenty of potential to be a first-class destination RV resort - when it's all completed.

This would be a 9 if it were not for the mosquitoes. Tons of wildlife to see, boating, and have fun crabbing on the Daugherty Creek Canal. The office/store doesn't stock too much foodstuffs (Crisfield is only two miles down the road) but it does have fishing supplies, rent kayaks and canoes, and have a variety of ever important bug sprays! There are only a few sites that allow pets, but they all backup to a meadow area for walking your dog. The shower house was clean, but could use an update - the door lock did not work well, and hooks and soap holders were in dis-repair. A beautiful place though, we'll enjoy again.

If you enjoy a natural setting, with great hikes, and opportunities for fishing and family time, this park is for you! Early May, and the campground was mostly empty. Since we are new dog owners, we got a dog site (with electric) - most of these were filled, followed by sites that had electric. Camp store had the basics. The Park is only a few miles from the intersection of Routes 476, 80, and 940. There are reasonable restaurants there if you don't want to cook. Site we had (285) was wide, but I felt the location of the fire ring was too close to my neighbors rig. Also if you are bothered by road noise, this row of sites backs up to Rt 534. Go for the lower sites. Both my daughters want to come back for the beauty found in this park. Don't miss the "Shades of Death" trail - Not as difficult as it sounds, but following a stream and rock formations for a mile and a half.

We camped here because we had been unimpressed by another close "resort" campground in Lenhartsville, and we wanted to tour Cabela's, Hawk Mountain and Crystal Cave. This campground was within minutes of all these, and right down the road from Pinnacle Winery. The property is sandwiched between Route 78 and old Route 22, but for me, road noise was not an issue. There is a horse farm bordering the lower sites, and the girls had fun feeding the colts carrots. The store was small, but well stocked with essentials. My wife spoke with the congenial owners, they just took over in March 08, and have made capital improvements, and are planning more. (Including a pool) Most sites were pull thru, and we saw plenty of huge rigs with car trailers fitting fine on these sites. (There was a car show in Macungie, and lots of participants camped at Pine Hill - so we got to see plenty of cool rods to boot!)Pretty quiet campground, good location for touring the Lehigh Valley - we will definitely be back.

Great hiking trails, took bikes, better off without them. Close to Hopewell Village, a iron forge from the 1800's Great Pool, but need to drive to it. sites are mostly level, and wonderfully wooded. 2 fishing lakes, Great place to get way to. Only one hour away from Philadelphia. Did a "guys weekend with brother and buddies, and a few weeks later, a muli-family camping trip. For something not in any tourbook, Take a Trip to Morgantown, (20 mins away) eat at Sonic and watch gliders be pulled into the air by single prop planes and glide back down.

Camped here with Church Group - 10 sites mix of RV and Tents. Because we were a group got use of Pavillion, which was set up wonderfully with sink and stainless steel shelving. Plenty of Activities for all ages. Pools were great, a special pool just for the little ones. This is a yearly event - and everyone agrees they want to return to Lake-in-Wood again. Only downside - as early as 6am it was seen that the bathhouse area was dirty - so not clean basically from the day before. Have seen worse elsewhere, but expected better given price and other amenities
